Man with a van: Dublin & Meath

When a man-and-van is the right choice, when it isn't, and what to ask before you book.

A man-with-a-van is the right answer for small jobs – a few pieces of furniture, a 1-bed flat, a single-item delivery. For a full 3-bed or anything with delicate stuff, you want a proper removals crew.

When it works

  • Studio or 1-bed move within Dublin or Meath
  • Single piece of furniture: sofa, fridge, bed
  • Ikea collection and delivery
  • Moving boxes from a parent's house into a flat

When you need more

Two or more bedrooms, a piano or safe, stairs at both ends, a tight completion-day window – these call for two or three trained movers, a bigger van and goods-in-transit insurance. The hourly rate looks higher; the all-in cost is usually lower because the job actually finishes.

What to ask

Insured? Fixed price or hourly? What size van? Are they on time, every time? A reputable operator answers all four without flinching.
