Moving to Trim, Co. Meath: a local's guide

Schools, neighbourhoods, transport, weekend life. The version of Trim you'd tell a friend about.

Trim is one of those towns that punches above its weight. Norman castle in the middle, decent schools, a 45-minute commute to Dublin, and a town centre that hasn't been swallowed by chains.

Neighbourhoods

Town-centre living suits people who want to walk to coffee and the river. The estates off the Dublin road (Manor Village, Knightsbridge) are popular with families. Rural townlands within ten minutes give you space and a garden without losing the town.

Schools

Mix of Catholic, multi-denominational and Gaelcholáiste at primary level. Boyne Community School and St. Joseph's at secondary.

Getting around

Bus to Dublin takes about an hour. The M3 from Navan is twenty minutes. Plenty of people drive to the Dunshaughlin park-and-ride and take the bus from there.
