Most complaints about removals companies come down to one of five missing checks at booking. Run through these and you'll avoid almost all of them.
1. Written quote with inclusions
Email, not a phone number scrawled on a notepad. The quote should list packing, mileage, hours, insurance, and what happens if completion is delayed by a day.
2. Goods-in-transit insurance
Ask for the certificate. Reputable companies send it without flinching. If they hesitate, walk away.
3. Real references
Google reviews are fine but recent named reviews on Facebook or LinkedIn are better. Ask for a customer in your area you can ring.
4. The right kit
Properly sized vans, blankets, straps, trolleys, sack barrows, piano dolly if needed. If you ask what they bring and the answer is vague, that's the answer.
5. Clear cancellation terms
Irish house completions slip. A good removals company knows this and has a sensible rebooking policy. Read it before you pay.
